Ikonopedia Showcases Breast Imaging Workflow Enhancement Tools at NCoBC

DALLAS, March 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ikonopedia, or image encyclopedia, will showcase BreastPro, a revolutionary suite of breast imaging report generation software tools based on indexing breast findings based on what they look like rather than what they are called, for the first time at the National Consortium of Breast Centers' (NCoBC) 24th Annual National Interdisciplinary Breast Center Conference, March 15-19, 2014.  (Booth #65).

Dr. L?szl? Tab?r, one of Ikonopedia's founders, and Ikonopedia CEO Gerald Kolb will be featured prominently during the Interdisciplinary Breast Center Conference program with several topical presentations, targeting RTs, physicians and administrators.  Key topics include Dr Tab?r discussing the "Myth of Over Diagnosis," on Tuesday, March 18, at 4:15pm and Kolb reviewing "Dense Breast Tissue Density Laws – Just the Facts, Ma'am:  The Technologist's Role in Breast Density Education," on Monday, March 17, at 10:35am; and "Adapting Breast Cancer Screening Strategy Using Personalized Risk Estimation," in a poster presentation on Sunday, March 16, at 5:45pm.  For a complete list of all presentations featuring Ikonopedia leadership, visit: http://www.ikonopedia.com/ikonopedia-ceo-and-founder-supports-the-national-consortium-of-breast-centers/.

"Ikonopedia was founded on the premise of developing breast imaging reporting tools that enable a new level of quality and productivity, making good breast imagers great and great breast imagers more efficient. Sharing best practices for improving workflow and patient care is a major focus of the NCoBC program and we are very proud that Dr Tab?r and Jerry Kolb have been selected to share their breast imaging expertise on a number of critical issues," said Emily Crane, VP Sales & Marketing at Ikonopedia, who will be primarily responsible for demonstrating Ikonopedia's breast imaging tools at NCoBC.

Designed to optimize workflow for the radiologist and breast imagers, Ikonopedia's suite of breast imaging report generation software tools are based on indexing breast findings based on what they look like rather than what they are called.  As the radiologist selects images on the Ikonopedia screen that most closely match the patient's images, a structured language report is generated from a standardized lexicon.

The recently launched SonoPro™ Breast Ultrasound interpretation and reporting module is designed to guide radiologists through the interpretive process for diagnostic breast ultrasound exams.  Delivered as a Cloud-based web application, SonoPro is based upon the teaching files of Thomas Stavros, MD, one of Ikonopedia's founders and author of Breast Ultrasound, one of the most popular reference books in the field of breast ultrasound.  SonoPro guides the physician through the interpretive process for diagnostic ultrasound with an intuitive lesion locator tool designed specifically for breast ultrasound.  SonoPro's image-based interface enables users to work at optional levels of specificity and automatically generates structured MQSA and BI-RADS compliant reports.

When difficult calls are encountered, embedded reference and educational materials are immediately available via a context-sensitive, multi-media reference library drawn from the teaching files and maintained by Ikonopedia founders: Dr. L?szl? Tab?r (mammography), Dr. Tom Stavros (Ultrasound), and Dr. Michael Vendrell (MR).  Interactive images also allow regions of interest to be localized, and other characteristics of the patient image to be described visually.  These visual cues are then automatically and seamlessly translated into a report with no dictation, no pull down menus, and no introduction of error.

By presenting physicians with visual correlation between the patient image and the closest teaching example, the system enables physicians to move quickly through the interpretive process without needing to describe findings or to check reports for transcription or grammatical errors. BreastPro maximizes efficiency while enhancing accuracy and the quality of data.

About Ikonopedia
Ikonopedia, LLC was founded by three expert breast imaging radiologists: L?szl? Tab?r, MD, A. Thomas Stavros, MD, and Michael J. Vendrell, MD.  Ikonopedia is an image-based breast study interpretation and reporting tool designed to interface with multiple Radiology PACS and Information Systems. Selecting an Ikonopedia image icon inserts a structured language description of the lesion and its location into the report. An embedded real-time reference created and maintained by Drs. Tab?r, Stavros, and Vendrell is available whenever the Radiologist might want to seek further knowledge for accurate diagnosis.
